Chasing the Blue Sky by GreyCat21 Chasing the Blue Sky by GreyCat21
In some parts of the world, people don't get to see a blue sky anymore because of pollution... It is hard to imagine that human activity can even obscure the sky, but to millions around the world, a chronically grey, smog-filled sky is part of daily reality. In some places, a blue sky is such a rare treat that people even take a day off from work to enjoy it whenever it happens.

The eyes make him look tired.. Or maybe he got sick after sitting in the rain for so long with his girlfriend. Maybe I'm overthinking.

Love the picture and the message behind it. Keep up the good work!

Cute work :) I was wondering about the eyes, they don't seem so clear to me. Are there bags under the eyes?

What about light pollution? The sky is orange at night where I live cuz the city is so bright -_-

Yeah, New York is orange too O_O That's kind of the first thing that struck me when I first visited. No stars at all. Ever. I wonder if people living in the city even remember what a normal night sky looks like...

They're too busy to look at the sky :\ Either looking at the buildings or their paperwork. That is a steriotype, I'm sure some people look at the sky but you're right, there prolly isn't much to see...

When I went on vacation to AZ my dad took me to a place off the highway and MAH GAWD THERE WERE SOOOO MANY STARS!!!

Yupp. =D
I've only seen the Milky Way once in my life if you can believe that... I spent most of my life in cities where you're lucky to see any stars at all. But in complete darkness you would see not only a bunch of stars everywhere but also a light band going across the sky =P I think its kinda funky that you can see one of the arms of your own galaxy...

Gives a lot of perspective, stargazing. I always search for the familiar constellations. I use Cygnus (it forms a sort of arrow) to find the Indestructable (Egyptian gateway to the afterlife) My family doesn't really care. I just go outside and look straight up. Not the best view, but I can find some stuff. Did you know that One of Draco's stars used to be the north star? But the pole shifted a little, so now it's polaris :P

Wow, I didn't know that, that's pretty cool! I do know that the poles can wobble though =P And that magnetic poles can flip, or so some scientists postulate o.O'

They think the magnetic poles are gonna flip sometime in the next million years. You know, the magnetic field is gererated my the earth's rotation curning the earth's core, and protects the atmosphere from solar wind. Mars lost its magnetic field, its atmosphere got burned away, and it's dead. Therefore, if the earth stops moving or the core cools (which science has proven it is doing (O_o)) We're done for. BUUUUUUT that won't happen anytime in the near future. :phew:

I didn't know this could happen because I live on the beach (skies all around) but when I finally went to the city, it was a very true thing- I missed the sun. This is a great piece to bring awareness of that type of thing not mention the subject itself makes one all the more curious about how a cute kitty ended up chasing a butterfly with a balloon~

And yes, I always knew about smog and all that, but I didn't realize just how bad it can get in some parts of the world x_x' The "take a day off work for a blue sky day" is a typical occurrence in Beijing, for example...

I do not believe that that is 100% human activity is the cause though we might be responsible for a good portion of it by the way you title reminded me of a song from the newsboys: Kissin your cares good bye look it ou on you tube you might find it interesting

Well, when I drew this I was thinking Beijing, China, actually... Where it kinda is all the factories =D In the US its never that bad and tends to be a combination of smog and dust...
But thanks for the song, i'll check it out! =D

Yeah, originally I was gonna make the balloon red (I usually make at least one balloon red O.O Idk.) But then I figured I should stick with the concept all the way...

I think blue suits the concept more as well ^^ It, surprisingly, has more impact with blue rather than red.
